Selected Topics on QoS-aware Systems

Description:
The seminar will cover papers with selected topics in the area
of QoS-aware systems with the emphasis on multimedia operating systems
and networking. The first half of the semester will be
devoted to QoS issues within the multimedia operating and distributed
systems (CPU, Disk management for multimedia
and their implementations). The second half of the semester will cover
QoS issues within the networks.
Evaluation:
Each student must give a talk and present papers.
Each student must prepare a one page paper's summary of positive and
negative issues for each paper (presenter of a paper does not submit
a written summary, but analyzes the positive and negative issues of the paper
in the presentation) and sends it to the instructor (klara@cs.uiuc.edu)
prior to the
presentation. The summary can be either emailed in ascii format or
presented in hard copy
at the beginning of the seminar. The grade will be based on paper
presentations (50 %), delivered summary of papers (25%), and
participation in discussions (25%).

The papers are on reserve in Grainger library.
