multimedia networking, and multimedia applications.
The second half of the semester will cover
security issues in multimedia systems as well as copyright and
watermarking algorithms applied to multimedia information.
Evaluation:
Each student must present several
papers. Each paper will be read
by two students. One student will present the overall paper concepts
and the other student will critique the paper, i.e., present the positive
and negative aspects of the paper. The grade will be based on paper
presentations (50 %) and
participation in discussions (50%).
Readings:
The papers are on reserve in Grainger library, hence make
copies of them. Ask at the front desk of the Grainger library for
cs491kn folder. Select the paper during the first week, August 22-24,
so that we can start with presentations on Wednesday, August 29, 2001.
Send email to Kai Chen (kaichen@cs.uiuc.edu) with your paper selection.
Kai will then post it on the class web. Remember, only two people per
paper. The paper allocation will be done based on FCFS in Kai's email box.
